NORTHEAST OHIO DISTRICT SOFTBALL ALL-DISTRICT SELECTION VOTING PROCEDURE

Each Division (I, I, III, IV) will vote for an All-District Team. A first team and a second team will be selected as determined by the number of coaches present at the May meeting. In order for each Division to select two teams, 15 coaches of that classification must be present.

The process for nominating and electing a player will be:

1) To be eligible to vote, the coach must have attended no fewer than 3 meetings. The May meeting is one of the three meetings needed to qualify.

a. If a qualified coach is unable to attend the May Meeting, he/she may send a substitute to vote for him/her, provided that substitute has a permission letter signed by his/her AD and Principal.

2) Her coach will nominate each player.

a. (If a coach is a member, but has not attended three (3) meetings a coach that did not nominate three (3) players but has attended three (3) meetings may nominate a player from another team providing the nomination form has been completed.

3) Each coach may nominate up to 3 players from his/her team. Nominees should be quality players (i.e., All-League, All-County, All-City, etc.)

4) In order to nominate a player each coach MUST fill out the nomination form for each player and have enough copies available for each coach in attendance. (Approximate copies per player - DI=40, DI =35, DIII =30, DIV=20)

5) The school's game schedule and scores of the games played must be on the back of the nomination form.

6) No coach will be permitted to verbally present his/her athlete. All information is to be included on the nomination form.

7) A coach MAY vote for his/her own player.

8) One vote per school The following will be selected in each division. Based on the attendance of 15 coaches present in that Division.)

HONORABLE MENTION

Each coach will be able to name one (1) player Honorable Mention from his or her team.

a) If not all three of their players were elected to 1" or 2nd team.

b) This player need not have been nominated

ALL STATE VOTING

1) The players will be selected from the first team All-District Team of each division and determined by a vote of the coaches of each division.

2) One (1) player is selected for every ten (10) or any part of ten (10) paid member schools per division. (Example: If there are eleven schools paid, there will be 2 All State selections made for that division.)

3) For every one (1) First Team All-Ohio selection, the division receives the right to one (1) Second Team All-Ohio selection and one (1) Honorable Mention All-State selection

The top four (4) selections will be first team.

The next four (4) will be second team.

The next four (4) will be second team.

Each time the highest vote selections are picked to that team.

* If a coach is a member of the association but has not attended three (3) meetings a coach that did not nominate three (3) players but has attended three (3) meetings may nominate a player from another team providing the nomination form has been filled in correctly.

* In order to nominate a player each coach must fill out the nomination form completely and return it to their division's representative no later than the designated date.

Timeline:

1. Complete the attached nomination spreadsheet and return it to your division's representative no later than midnight on Friday May 10th. You may ONLY nominate 3 players. Please fill in the appropriate position TAB for the player you are nominating. DO NOT CHANGE the format of the spreadsheet!!

2. On Sunday May 12th you will receive an email with all of the players nominated in your division along with a link to the ballot on Survey Monkey. You will have until Friday May 17th to complete the ballot. You MAY vote for your own players.

3. On Sunday May 19th at 1pm we will meet and reveal the vote totals and then vote for the All State players from the list of 1st Team All-District players. First, we will vote for 1st Team All State. Then, we will vote again for 2nd Team All State. Lastly, we will vote again for Honorable Mention All State.

The following will be selected in each division:

Honorable Mention

Each Coach will be able to name two (2) players Honorable Mention from his/her team.
