Central District Softball Coaches Association Constitution

ARTICLE I – NAME

The name of the organization shall be: Central District Softball Coaches Association. It shall be composed of voluntary membership of coaches of softball in the Central District in all four classes (I, II, III, IV).

ARTICLE II – PURPOSE

The purposes of the CDSCA shall be:

A. To promote softball in the Central District area through clinics, meetings, all-star games, and other functions.

B. To recognize outstanding achievements of coaches and players in the Central District.

C. To encourage and assist other Ohio districts in the organization of similar associations and to encourage participation and membership in the Ohio High School Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association.

ARTICLE III - MEMBERSHIP

A. There shall be two classifications of members in the Association: Active and Associate.

B. Active membership shall include Varsity head coaches. Associate membership shall include all assistant coaches, JV, JVB, Freshmen, Middle School and Junior High coaches as well as retired coaches, summer coaches, umpires and news media.

ARTICLE IV – DUES

A. Membership dues shall be $40.00 annually for the Active Membership. According to the State Association, $40.00 must be paid to the District Treasurer by March 15th . This $40.00 fee covers dues for the District and the State. Membership is required for voting and nominating privileges in both the District and State Associations. 

Membership dues shall be $20 ($12.50 to District and $7.50 to State) for the Associate Membership.

B. Dues are payable at the organization’s first meeting of the school year or by mail on or before March 15th .

C. Any Additional fees may be voted on by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the Active membership present.

D. If a school has paid membership dues before the deadline (March 15) but has not attended required meetings because of extenuating circumstances, such school will be notified and a letter of appeal by that school’s Athletic Director will be reviewed by the Executive Officers (President, President-Elect, Secretary/Treasurer and active past presidents) of the CDSCA for nominating and voting privileges.

ARTICLE VII – VOTING

All active members or designee (1 per school) will be entitled to one (1) vote. Fifty-one percent (51%) of the vote of members present will be needed for passage of general business.

ARTICLE VIII – AMENDMENTS OF THE CONSTITUTION

The Constitution may be amended by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of those members present at the meeting of the Association. The amendment must be discussed at one meeting prior to voting on the proposed change by the Active members.

ARTICLE IX – ALL-DISTRICT TEAM SELECTION

A. The meeting to nominate and vote for All-District candidates shall be held in May

B. Candidates from a school district may be nominated by their head coach or his/her designated representative as long as the meeting requirement has been fulfilled as per Article VI.

C. Nominations are limited to no more than four (4) per school.

D. Voting shall be on an equal basis; each member school to have only one (1) vote.

E. There shall be three (4) teams, Divisions I, II, III, and IV

F. For each division there will be a first team, a second team and an honorable mention team. Guidelines for team selection are included in appendix i.

G. The number of All-District players selected for first team will be dependent upon the number of member schools in each division. There will be five All-District players selected for every ten (or part of ten) members schools. There will be a minimum of 10 first team All-District players selected in a division regardless of the number of member schools.

The number of players selected to the second team will be consistent with the first team.

The number of member schools will be compiled by the District Treasurer at the conclusion of the March 15 th deadline.

Example:

1-10 members schools = 10 First team All-District , 10 Second team All-District

11-20 member schools = 10 First team All-District , 10 Second team All-District

21-30 member schools = 15 First team All-District, 15 Second team All-District

H. After First and Second Team selections have been made, any qualified coach or his/her representative, who has yet to have one (1) player represented on an All-State or All-District Team will appoint one (1) player to the Honorable Mention Team. The remaining Honorable Mention positions will be voted on until all positions are filled. The number of Honorable Mention positions will be limited to the number of unrepresented teams or the same number as listed in Article IX Section G, whichever is higher.

ARTICLE X – CENTRAL DISTRICT SENIOR ALL-STAR GAME SELECTION OF PLAYERS

A. Any senior nominated by their Varsity Head coach is eligible to participate.

B. The players will be divided into two teams.

C. All-Star game rules:

1. Seniors only

2. Substitution shall be free.

3. The rules of fastpitch softball as recognized by the Ohio High School Athletic Association (with the exception substitution) shall be followed.

4. All District awards will be presented at the contest.

 

ARTICLE XI – ALL-DISTRICT COACHES OF THE YEAR

Coaches from each class will nominate and elect a District Coach of the Year for each classification (I, II, and III, IV)

ARTICLE XII – CENTRAL DISTRICT COACHES HALL OF FAME

A. Coaches will be nominated at the May meeting. A vote will be taken at the August meeting and all nominees that receive a 51% approval vote will be inducted into the Hall of Fame if they meet the CDSCA Hall of Fame Guidelines. ( Revised 2/2011) 

B. CDSCA Hall of Fame Guidelines

a. Qualifying points must be amassed while a member in good standing

b. Ten (10) years coaching experience (i.e.: Varsity, Assistant Varsity, JV, of Freshmen)

c. Five hundred (500) point minimum needed to qualify for nomination

i. Number of wins (as a Varsity head coach only) 1 point per

ii. Number of years as a Head Coach 1 point per

iii. Association Officer 25 points per

iv. Varsity Head coach of a League Championship 20 points per

v. Head coach of a District Championship 30 points per

vi. Head coach of a Regional Championship 40 points per

vii. Head coach of a State Runner-up 45 points per

viii. Head coach of a State Championship 60 points per

ix. League Coach of the Year 35 points per

x. District Coach of the Year 45 points per

xi. CDSCA Clinician 15 points per

xii. Meritorious Service 15 points per

xiii. State Underclassmen Tournament Coach 15 points per

d. Coaches named to the State Coaches Hall of Fame will be placed in the District Hall of Fame Automatically''
